Day 4 - What Is Something You Are Looking Forward To?
I look forward to this time of year - every single year. I find it to be a warm, loving, happy time of year for me and my family. And that is worth looking forward to.
Our family has so many traditions during the holiday season. This year, however, is going to be more magical than most years. Kyle and I get to share our family traditions with our significant others this year! I have never been in a situation where I can share my family traditions with someone and they share theirs with me.
Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday. No gifts, just good food and family. Name a better holiday! The tradition of watching the parade is something I have never gone without. When we were in the high school marching band, we would often MISS the parade, but thanks to DVRs, we were able to catch it later that day. The smell of Grammy's stuffing cooking really hits me in the feels. I can't wait for all the delicious smells and memories in a few weeks!
I am looking forward to sharing the tradition of the LaSallette Shrine in Attleboro, MA with Mike this year. I used to go every year as a child with my family, and haven't been down there in years. I am hoping to visit with some family while we are down that way - so I can continue to introduce Mike to family!
I am also looking forward to decorating the apartment for Christmas. There is just something magical about watching TV with the Christmas tree lights on. Or reading. Or literally anything!
Daylight Savings is also a big favorite of mine this time of year. I love gaining an extra hour of life, and find I am more productive this time of year because of it. I know it's a mental thing - but it's so exciting! Sure it gets dark at noon (okay 4pm but still..), but that just means more time for Christmas lights!
I am hoping Mike and I can make some of our own traditions together, as this is our first Christmas as a (Facebook Official) couple. Last year we were seeing each other pretty seriously, but he hadn't asked yet! 😍
Christmas music started playing on Monday - so that's already checked off the "I can't wait!" list!
I am hopeful that I can share some of the fun stuff we do as a family with Mike in North Carolina (if we can find cheap flights.. I miss when there were flights for $50!).
