Review Time!

If you've paid attention at all on this journey, you'd know that I am a pretty big book worm. I love reading - always have. It relaxes me, allows me to escape reality for a little while, and broadens my imagination.  In the last 2 and a half years, I have struggled to pick up a book and read it cover to cover. For something I love so much to be hard - something was wrong. I couldn't shut my brain off enough to enjoy what I was reading. I was not about to waste time reading and not enjoying it - no thank you. In the last month and a half, I have finished 3 books. THREE! From time to time, I will leave reviews and book recommendations on here to break up some of the heavier posts. Life is too short to be focused only on how to make changes. Focus on how to live a life you love, and watch your world change!  Beneath A Scarlet Sky  by Mark Sullivan          As any normal adult with a bank account and internet access, I find myself brow...

You get.. A PRIZE

Day 24 of 30 We are down to the final week of this challenge. How exciting!!  Today's discussion: Prize possession you can't live without I could pull the typical "my phone" card.. because it's true, I can't live without my phone. It's the only way anyone can get in touch with me, as I don't have a land line.  But this is far more near and dear to my heart..  I cannot live without my book collection.  I have always been a bookworm, from a young age. I would spend my summer breaks at the library taking out a stack a books every few weeks - only to read them all and bring them back for more.  I have always had an extensive collection, mixed with everything from trashy romance novels to biographies. If my mind is in the right place, I can very easily focus my attention on a book and finish it in under a week. Lately, I have been very unsettled and unable to focus on anything that requires brain activity after work, so I haven'...

Day 3 of 30 Today's topic: favorite book This is hard, because as a nerdy bookworm I have so many favorites. Because my true passion lies in history, I find a lot of my favorite books are historical fiction or biographical. As I just mentioned, this is hard for me to choose just one, but I chose one that has stuck out to me in the last few years, and really made me think. My favorite book: 11.22.63 by Stephen King.  Anyone that knows me, knows that the horror genre is NOT something I care to involve myself in. I took a chance on this book, because of the topic at hand. The assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas, TX on November 22, 1963. Without giving too much of the book away, here's a quick synopsis. Jake, an English teacher in Maine, befriends a diner owner who found a rabbit hole in his diner closet. When you get to the bottom of the stairs, you're in Maine in 1958. Jake goes through 1958, and sets out for Dallas to try and stop the assassin...
