The Online Dating Chronicles - Part 2

Once I got myself out of the trainwreck that was part 1 of my online dating - I started talking to someone else.


It just kind of happened - I had no intention of getting back on the dating horse just yet. I needed to process the CF that had occurred the month prior - but something told me to give this one a shot. We messaged back and forth daily, and the conversation never went stale. I had hope - or so I thought. 


The only reason I know what the date was when I saw him - is because it was literally the day after earth shut down in March... March 14th. We met up for drinks and joked about how messy the world got (looking back that may not have been the best way to look at things). The conversation was great in person, and he was SUPER handsome. He had everything I'd hoped for in a guy - good looks, great job, loves dogs, military background... HI HOW YOU?!


He walked me to my car afterwards, and goes "How would you feel about a hug, given the current climate and such?" If you know me at all, you KNOW I am all about hugs.  I asked if we would do this again sometime, and he emphatically responded YES! 


Then he dropped off the face of the earth and I never heard from him again. 


The moral of the story here: actions speak louder than words.

 I went out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends last night and we had quite a few great conversations. Sometimes you just need to go out with some friends who accept you for who you are, without expectations, and just be present.  To set the scene here - all of us are mid 30s. Two of the 3 of us that were out are married, and I am on my way to the altar in just over 6 months (holy crap), and two of the three of us are also moms (spoiler alert: I am not a mom...yet).  Out of respect of my friends' privacy I am not going to use names. I was not a fan of The Office when it first started. I didn't give it a second thought. However, 5 years ago, a guy I was seeing told me to give it a try... so I did. To say I speak in fluent quotes from this show is an understatement. One year later...

  It's been a year since my life was completely turned upside down. 365 days since I experienced an attack by nature in what I thought was supposed to be my safe space.  Life has a wonderful way of putting you on the path you are meant to be on. There is no denying that - and I will die on that hill. After much reflection and healing, it’s time to talk some truth. I will be clear - this is not to put anything out in the world that wasn’t already there.  Healing can be messy. Healing can hurt while it is in process. Healing is not linear.
