Tell Me Why?! (Part 2)
The final part to this two part saga is upon us! This doesn't have to do with why I chose to blog, though.
This has everything to do with WHY I chose to partner with another Network Marketing company.
Before you roll your eyes - just hear me out.
If you know me on a personal level, you know I was once a part of a direct sales company that got a bad rep. The products never changed, but the culture sure did. I quietly removed myself from a group of people who cared more about what I looked like than who I was. I had a bad taste in my mouth - and wanted nothing to do with the industry ever again. I felt like an outcast every time I was around these people, and it honestly made me question everything.
Firmly against doing anything with direct sales, I started to roll my eyes when I saw people posting about their side hustles or their success. I was trained to believe that only the top earners in the company could gain anything - that everyone else just had to hope. I wanted nothing to do with any other network marketing companies. Yet I still watched a friend show up daily - and start to see some success.
See.. she was able to grow EVEN THOUGH I was hating on her decision (internally). She tuned out the hate and judgement and kept doing her. I wanted to BE like her. I wanted the success she had- but I was against joining her team. From July 2018 to November 2018, I sat on the sidelines and hated on her content. There was absolutely NO way that stuff worked - there were lawsuits and articles against them!
The internet is a scary place y'all. We can't trust everything we read - we have to do our own research!
Well.. in November 2018, she posted that there was a Black Friday sale. I was sick and tired of having flat, dead hair. This sale was promoting the products at SUPER affordable prices, so I jumped in, but with serious reservations. I told her flat out I wanted no part in the business - I just wanted to get the products at a discount. She told me there was a 30 day money back guarantee, so if I hated the products, I could return them and get all my money back. Fine! I cave! I ordered a shampoo and conditioner system that would give me what I wanted, as well as some styling products.
First wash... I was actually embarrassed to admit that I was hooked. The products were unlike ANYTHING I had ever used on my head. They were comprised of clean ingredients, smelled INCREDIBLE, and made my hair feel amazing. I used them "in secret" for two months, because I was terrified to tell anyone I loved these products. That would mean I would have to explain where I got them, and was not ready for that sort of negative energy.
February of 2019, after an extensive conversation with my friend, I decided to jump in. Initially I just wanted a larger discount on the products. I wasn't about to start blabbing about this new "opportunity" (how I saw it at the time.. things change!), because I had already received enough hate about my previous plan. I was tired of being branded "one of those girls" - so I kept my new found obsession to myself.
After being a part of the team for about a week, I saw the community and vibes they were giving off - and KNEW I made the right choice. I saw how incredibly supportive and uplifting this team was, and finally felt like I was home. It's a come as you are, be who you are, we love you anyway vibe - and I am HERE FOR IT.
See... growing up, I was always a part of a group of friends. Once I left college, and hit the real world, the groups I was a part of either disbanded or people started to drop off. There were many times I felt like a loner in my adult life. I was kept around some groups to be laughed at, gossiped about, and made to feel like I wasn't enough of a person to be valued. I felt like I was in constant competition with women (or children, depending on their behavior), and hated the feeling. When I joined this team, I saw it all laid out in front of me: women empowering women for whatever their goals may be. This is what I have been looking for!
Being a part of this team has been a game changer. See, they promote personal development (something that was VERY proprietary before and actually sounded terrible to me), and will support your choices. I would have NEVER (okay maybe not never, but highly unlikely) taken the leap down the hard road of sitting with the suck and working through it, had it not been for this team.
This company is a 5 year old, debt free company. Everything is done here in the US. One of their core values is gratitude - and let me tell you, they do not disappoint. Their products are unlike any other (and actually outsold quite a few of the top salon brands last year). They are the fastest growing haircare line, and I am so grateful that I am a part of this amazing community. The haircare products promote growth, and the skincare is such an incredible addition to the family.. I can't wait to see what drops in September!
It's SO MUCH MORE THAN PRODUCTS OR MAKING MONEY Y'ALL!!!!
Do I make some money every month because friends and family have asked for recommendations on hair and skin care products? Yep. Do I make some money while people hate on my content? Yup.
It's simple - I share what I am using and make a small commission.
The idea behind network marketing/direct sales is simple: share what you love and make some cash. It's not easy - but it is simple. I am someone who thrives when helping others, so I decided to make it a side hustle. It's way more than hair care or skincare products. It's a lifestyle that promotes healthy mental health as well as emotional health. There's zero judgement or requirements to look a certain way.
There's no competition to lose more weight or sell more product than anyone else. It's a family. It's a tribe of women that want to see each other win - rather than only focus on their own goals. It's refreshing, it's a blessing, and it absolutely will be a part of my life forever.
Moral of the story here... the products are top notch (I will never use anything else ever again.. my hair and skin have never been healthier!), the commission structure is unlike anything I have ever seen, the community is incredible, and being a part of something that will not only change my world financially but also mentally and emotionally is a huge bonus. I am forever grateful to these ladies, and cannot WAIT to see them in September at our team retreat!
