Reader Request: Travel

A while back, I posted on my instagram story that I was looking for ideas for blog topics that would peak interest from my readers. I got 2 requests, so this is the first of the two.

If there's one thing I love about my life right now, it's the ability to literally pick up and go wherever I want. No responsibilities holding me from doing what I want - yes I have a full time job, but I am able to take time off whenever I so choose. No family responsibilities, no significant other to check in with. Just me. (sure, I'd LOVE to have someone to adventure with, but I love doing things on my own right now.)

Last summer, I was able to pull off a huge birthday surprise for my mom. Dad and I started talking about it back in January of last year.. because it was a big milestone birthday for her! We planned it all out - and then had to wait for the day to come. While I LOVE surprising my parents, this one takes the cake.

We spent 4 days camping (in a 5th wheel trailer, complete with A/C, running water, and real beds...) just outside of Asheville, NC. I have always wanted to go there, as I heard nothing but great things about the area. We spent one day in downtown Hendersonville (shout out to Canaan Cox's home town!!! ((to those who don't know.. I am in LOVE with this up and coming country artist...))) and let me tell you - that downtown has the MOST AMAZING vibes ever. We found an amazing little cidery - with the most delicious cider I've ever had! I love my hard ciders!

We were able to spend some time at the Biltmore Estate - and if you haven't been -YOU NEED TO GO! The largest privately owned estate in the United States. Saturated in history, and SO much to explore on the grounds. Before going, I recommend reading "The Last Castle" by Denise Kiernan. It's so well written, and gives so much insight to the area around the home, as well as places in the home. As a history nerd, this trip ranks in the top 5 for me. There's so much to do in this area, you have to really map out what you want to do.

I still have so much exploring I want to do in this area.. and thankfully one of my best friends is moving there this summer, so not only will there be memories to be made, but fun to be had!!

A few other places I loved traveling to:

  • Washington D.C.
  • Disney World, Orlando, FL
  • Tucson, AZ

I would love to do any of the following trips... who's in?! :
  • CMA Fest, Nashville, TN
  • Nashville, TN in general
  • San Diego, CA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Seattle, WA
  • Chicago, IL
