Is There A Global Pandemic or Something?

Typically, I handle bad situations with humor. It's a defense mechanism that I've been using for most of my life. Lately, I have been having trouble (like the rest of the world, I am very aware) finding humor in the darkness.  I am a very outgoing, social butterfly who thrives on personal connection. I am struggling very hard to stay positive during this stay at home order here in Massachusetts. I love being able to visit friends, spend time with family, and shop without fear of getting sick. I have had a hard time finding a creative flow - I have ALL this free time on my hands, why haven't I been pumping out content?  Some days are hard. Some days are a breeze.  I was supposed to visit my parents the week after St. Patrick's Day. Just for a long weekend. As things started to shut down, I started to worry I wouldn't be able to fly home. After talking with my dad, we decided to cancel the trip. I didn't want to risk catching the virus and bringing it to my...

Removing ALL The Toxins

I have had a lot of thoughts lately, and have tried to find the right words to put them into posts. If you saw the list of posts I have for this blog, there are QUITE a few drafts. Eventually I will get through all of them... so let's start here!  At the end of 2018, I decided to start making the switch to non toxic, environmentally friendly products in my every day life. I wanted products that were never tested on animals, that were backed by solid, honest companies (hard to find in America, I know), and that actually worked. I started with swapping my shampoo and conditioner, as well as my styling products. I have never been more pleased with a product in my life! My hair is healthier, the products are incredible, and the community - unlike ANYTHING I have ever been a part of. It's been a very smooth, fulfilling transition. I also somehow managed to make a side business out of it, and it's been SUCH a blessing overall. I took a leap shortly after changing my hairca...

Decade in Review

Image
I've seen a lot of posts floating around social media reflecting on not only the last year, but the last decade. I was going to write some long, sappy post on Facebook, but decided that 1. my blog needs some love and 2. It's easier for me to organize my thoughts here. So let's reflect! Buckle up y'all.... ************ 2009 Living at school, very content with my life. I had a great group of friends who I saw regularly, and really loved being at school. I was a second year Resident Assistant in the building I called home for a total of 3 years (freshman housing... what upppp). At the beginning of 2009, our floor theme was Marvel vs DC. My floor had Marvel, and the work that went into decorating and organizing was some of the hardest work I'd done. So proud of my time as a Resident Assistant.  I was finally able to dive into my concert addiction more than I had been able to before, and loved every show I attended. I started the year with Jesse McCartney ...

Never Forget. 9/11. Always Remember . Common phrases we see every year, on this day. We are all connected to the events of September 11, 2001 somehow. We either knew someone who was a first responder, someone who was on a plane, someone who lost someone close to them.. the list goes on. And while it’s absolutely 100% a very sobering, sad reminder, the flooding of social media with the video footage of the planes hitting the towers, the towers crumbling, people running for their lives – it’s a whole lot to take in every year, all day long. There is no reason we can’t honor those lost by posting about it other than on the anniversary. And no, none of us will ever forget what happened or where we were. But taking away from those who were directly effected is unfair. SO unfair.  I will spare all the details, but 18 years ago I witnessed a childhood friend find out his dad was on one of the planes. We didn’t talk about it much until high school (I was in 7 th grad...

Falling Back into Routine

Image
There is a very bold line between my friends when it comes to seasonal changes. There are some who are dreading the coming season, while others cannot wait to for it. I am on the cannot wait for it side - as the summer is never a time I feel I can function at my best. I've seen so many negative posts on social media, taking digs at people who love this time of year. Here's the deal homies - everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you're one of those people who is taking digs at people on social media, you're ultimately shaming people for what they like. If you don't like the change, or are wishing for summer to stick around a little longer, then embrace your feelings. But making others feel like their opinion is wrong - is wrong.  For a very pale, borderline allergic to the sun girl - the summer time can often turn me into a hermit. Unless its sunrise or sunset, I can't do much outside. For the first time in my life I managed to contract heat stroke twice...

I was not a fan of The Office when it first started. I didn't give it a second thought. However, 5 years ago, a guy I was seeing told me to give it a try... so I did. To say I speak in fluent quotes from this show is an understatement. Mix that with my ability to quote F*R*I*E*N*D*S and well... you're in for a treat.  This isn't a discussion about how I have the ability to quote classic NBC TV shows. Sorry.. we can talk about that another post 😊 I had a conversation with one of my closest friends a few weeks back about how I feel left out and stuck while everyone is off living their lives with their person. She told me that she understands where I am coming from, but that I am living my life on my terms, and am a part of things a lot of people don't understand and it reignited the desire I've had to share WHY I am the way that I am.  For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a part of a large group of incredible people. I wanted to feel like I...
