 A lot of these posts on the 30 day challenge are meant to be lists. Today's topic: 3 favorite bands. 

 Which is SO hard, considering I love music and have so many favorites. 

 I will do my best to keep it to 3 - but make no promises.


Band #1: The Script
I have been a fan of these guys since they first came on the scene in 2007. I've seen them a few times in concert, and can honestly say they do NOT disappoint. I love their ever evolving sound, and the fact that they're from Ireland! Their music is so amazing, and the three of them are so talented. When I first saw them in concert, they were on the road with OneRepublic (one of my top 5 favorites!!!!) and can honestly say that concert is one of my all time favorites. You know how they say music can bring back memories? The Script does that for me on so many levels. 


Band #2:  Boyce Avenue
My college roommate Andrea and I came across these guys on YouTube when we were freshmen in college, and fell in LOVE with their covers. They do a lot of acoustic stuff along with their covers, and let me tell you - amazing. They are three brothers from Florida, who decided to take a chance on a dream, and now they're touring the world and living their dream! Every time they go on tour, Andrea and I try and find tickets - but the timing isn't always right. We will not see them without each other - it's our thing! I highly recommend you check them out on whatever platform you use for your music - I promise you will not be disappointed! 


Band #3: Safetysuit
I first saw (and heard of) these guys when they opened for Daughtry back in 2013 (Side note, big fan of Daughtry too!). I loved their sound live, so after the show I went home and added all their music to my Spotify catalog! They are not my usual go to band, but I love their music. Their new song "Victory" has become my new anthem - and gave me a new lease on life. Solid jam to turn up in the car, I'll tell you that much. Their music has such a positive push through it, and really gets to your soul (if you have one.. gingers supposedly don't have one, so maybe it just gets into my black hole.. HAH!).
Disclosure: I tried to pick 3 bands that may not come to mind when people think of my taste in music. Sure, The Script was a dead give away but the other two aren't. I am not as predictable as people claim I am - I'm learning to branch out and be a little more open with my music taste.

  It's been a year since my life was completely turned upside down. 365 days since I experienced an attack by nature in what I thought was supposed to be my safe space.  Life has a wonderful way of putting you on the path you are meant to be on. And you're who, exactly?

 I went out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends last night and we had quite a few great conversations. Sometimes you just need to go out with some friends who accept you for who you are, without expectations, and just be present.  To set the scene here - all of us are mid 30s. Two of the 3 of us that were out are married, and I am on my way to the altar in just over 6 months (holy crap), and two of the three of us are also moms (spoiler alert: I am not a mom...yet).  Out of respect of my friends' privacy I am not going to use names. However, I am going to say that these two women have been through hell and back in their lives at one point or another - and I am inspired by them all the time.  One of the conversations that came up after dinner was one about identity.  Often times, as life ebbs and flows for us, we adjust to who we are. Five More Minutes

DISCLAIMER: this is a long, emotional post. If you don't have the time/energy, bookmark for another day :)  If you are unfamiliar with Scotty McCreery, the American Idol winner turned country artist, you're missing out. His voice is so soothing, and his music is SO great! Not to mention he grew up the town over from where my parents currently reside. And did I mention he's adorable? Well, this fine gentleman released a song last year that brings me right back to a moment in time I never thought I'd see. Ever. It's an amazing song that makes you think - what if we had five more minutes? (The song is called Five More Minutes  for the people in the back). The final verse stopped me dead in my tracks when I heard it about a week after my Nana passed.
