Friday Favorites - TV Style
I promise these lists will get more
interesting as time goes on – and that I’ll get more creative about them. For
the time being, while I adjust to my new schedule/routine, bear with me.
THIS WEEK...
...WE HAVE
Top 5 Favorite Cancelled Shows
1.
The Vampire Diaries, CW Network, 8 seasons
This should not surprise ANY of
my closest friends. I started this show the night it premiered my sophomore
year of college. I rolled my eyes and assumed it would be “just another
Twilight story” – but my friends, it’s not. The storylines were incredible.
Sure, some seasons were a bit slow or not as entertaining. But as a whole, this
show was my saving grace every week. I would schedule my LIFE around this show
on Thursday nights – especially in college. Couldn’t hit the bars until I saw
my favorite vampire brothers. Clearly I had some priority issues. It’s
currently streaming all 8 seasons on Netflix if you need a new supernatural,
super far fetched, awesome story show with some SERIOUSLY attractive cast
members (men and women.. we’re all about happy people here).
2.
F*R*I*E*N*D*S, NBC Network, 10 seasons
Again, not another shocker here to those closest to me. This show brings me so much joy. When I am cleaning, it’s on in the background. When I’m sad, it’s my go to in order to feel better. When I’m getting ready, it’s on. I can tell you that this show gives me some serious nostalgia now that I am old enough to truly appreciate their struggles and triumphs as 20 somethings. Sure, I don’t live in NYC during the late 90s, early 2000s, nor do I have a group of friends I see every single day and do everything with. But I love how they grow as people throughout the 10 seasons. I wish the world was still as it was then – no cell phones, no social media, nothing near the BS we deal with now.
3.
Royal Pains, USA Network, 8 seasons
Think
House meets the Hamptons – but with some seriously quirky nonsense. The cast of
this show really makes it a memorable one. A NY doctor breaks off his
engagement and is fired from the hospital he’s worked at for a while, because
he made a choice on the job that the board didn’t agree with. His ridiculous
brother gets him into concierge medicine – basically home visits on the
Hamptons. What I love about this show is the scenery. It makes the Hamptons the
focal point, while growing story lines for the rest of the characters. I was
sad to hear this one was ending when it did, but it was time.
4.
The League, FX/FXX Networks, 7 seasons
As
a girl who grew up in an all boys neighborhood, I had a very early introduction
to sports. As an adult, I couldn’t care less about fantasy football, until I
joined a league at work. This show focuses on a group of friends who build everything
in their world around their fantasy football league. The banter is hilarious,
the pranks are ridiculous, and the humor is inappropriate for children under
18. But my GOODNESS is it funny. Definitely a show I will rewatch over and over
again from September to December every year.
5.
Sons of Anarchy, FX Network, 7 seasons
Gore,
drugs, guns, motorcycles, betrayal, family, secrets, love, CHARLIE FREAKIN
HUNNAM. The cast of this show was incredible. The writing – top notch. The gore
– gross but necessary. I will be honest – I did not start this show from the
beginning of its time on air. I started watching season 4 with a guy I was
dating at the time, who was a big fan, and after one episode, I decided I wanted
to invest some time into the show. So, I started the first season the next day,
and over the next month or so, I was caught up to the current episode on TV.
Dedication, my friends. Dedication. I will never forget how hard I cried at the
series finale, and how I felt like a part of my life had died. Oh wait, it did –
the series was over!
also, this list was really hard and i will most likely do a part 2 someday down the line :)
