Funny, Funny!

This week's Friday Favorites is comedy related.  Stand up comedy, to be exact. Growing up, my parents were sure to share some classic stand up comedy with my brother and I, but as I grew up, I found an entire world of comedy I had never seen before. Some of my favorite stand up specials (in NO particular order) are:  - Incorrigible - Chris D'Elia  - Raw - Eddie Murphy - I Am Brent Morin - Brent Morin - Whoopi Goldberg presents Billy Connolly - Billy Connolly - Uncool - Greg Behrendt - I'm A Little Grown Man - Kevin Hart - Show Me The Buffet - John Pinette - Rough Around The Edges - Dane Cook - I'mma Be Me - Wanda Sykes - White Male. Black Comic - Chris D'Elia - Never Don't Give Up - Kevin James - Bill Cosby, Himself - Bill Cosby* This is just from memory - there are plenty more I am sure. And yes, the last one has an asterisk after it due to recent findings (within the last few years). This stand up was a favorite of mine growing ...

Exciting New Challenge - Quick Post

I know we are still a week away from the beginning of a new month - however, as a planner, I like to set things in motion ahead of time in order to stay ahead of my to do list. Does that make me weird? Nope - it makes me proactive.  So, next month, on top of the one off posts during the week AND Friday Favorites, there will be a 30 day blog challenge I will take part in for all of May!  Yes, there are 31 days in May. Days 1-30 will be from a list, day 31 will be a reflection day just in time for Friday Favorites!  Some of the posts will be short and sweet, some will be long and in depth.  I can't wait to share this with all of you in the coming month! Let's finish April really strong - with nothing but happiness and positivity - let the negativity GO. Away from your energy, away from your thoughts.  You are a gift, you have a gift. Use it. 💞

Thumper Was a Wise Bunny

Justin Timberlake is notorious for producing incredible music and putting on a nonstop kick-ass show. His latest album is enjoyable, but one song in particular has been on my heart lately. He is known for collaborating with genius musicians, for working with incredible producers - he's a hit maker through and through.  So what song am I talking about?  Say Somethin'  ft. Chris Stapleton All too often, we rely on social media to convey how we are feeling: be it a bad day or a grudge against someone, a moment of judgement or a complaint about service received, exciting news about a deal we found or a selfie with a friend you haven't seen in forever. These platforms have removed the communication factor in relationships - family, friends, romantic. It's much easier to post a status update, a tweet, a snap to our stories, an instagram to our stories, and move on.   This has caused disconnects between friends and family alike - which is what's slowly cripplin...

The Guilt is REAL!

It's FRIDAY!!! So that means it's time for Friday Favorites!  This week's list of favorites is a fun one.. and is a list of some of my guilty pleasures. Things I don't necessarily admit to right away, things I enjoy that may surprise some of you. Let's begin!  I absolutely cannot stand Taylor Swift (don't take offense Swifties, everyone is entitled to their opinions!), however, I can NOT change the radio when I hear "Out of the Woods" - no shame. It's catchy!  Nickelback is one of my favorite bands - great music to workout to. When it comes to comfort junk food, I will never pass up Orange Hostess cupcakes - EVER. Best flavor.  Every time I am in the car alone, it's a private concert for me. Belting out the words, dancing along. The people who pull up next to me get a show too - never a dull moment People watching. Walmart. (enough said!) While this may surprise some of you, others may just laugh at the fact that I...

One Size Too Big

When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream?  A true, heartfelt dream. Complete with a plan, a support system, and some motivation to attempt it. There's nothing wrong with accepting the reality you live in - as long as you are honestly and truly happy with it. Down in your gut you know it's the right path for you. If you don't have that gut feeling, maybe it's time to reevaluate and allow yourself to dream in the direction you want your life to go in. An ongoing theme tied into this blog is putting energy into the universe that YOU want to receive back. Being positive all the time is not being fake, or ignoring the negative. It's choosing to rise above it, to allow yourself to be FREE of the negativity that surrounds us in this dark world.  Okay Kat.. but what does any of that mean? It means you're probably overdue to let your mind and heart wander to things that would make you so unbelievably happy - they would change your life. They woul...

We Need to Talk...

Today, in Massachusetts, is Patriot's Day - better known to us New Englanders as Marathon Monday. The amount of grit and hard work those runners put into training for this ONE day is so incredibly admirable. Their paths have not been easy, training was probably brutal for most of the days they didn't want to run. It's cold and rainy here today too, which makes for less than ideal running conditions. These people dedicated time to improve their running, to get through those tough miles when they just wanted to quit. This is a perfect metaphor for life. There are going to be times you want to give up and quit because it's too hard, too much at once. Take a step back and evaluate what you have in front of you, and GROW from it. Be inspired by who YOU are and what YOU bring to the table.  I went to an event this past weekend that reignited my fire. It gave me a reason to get out of bed every morning. It inspired me to keep living my best life. It surrounded me with so...

Friday Favorite

Just the one. This week’s list is just one simple thing.  It’s one thing in this world that I am grateful for, and blessed to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. It’s the one thing that allows me to keep going, to get up every morning and succeed. My Friday favorite this week: LIFE . Is it easy? Nope. Is it so hard some days I just want to throw in the towel and figure it out when I have the strength? Yup. Do I let my disappointments get the best of me? Not anymore. Do I sit and wonder if people like me? Not anymore. I’m better than that. I love MYSELF enough to know that I can stand on my own, without the constant need to please others, to live in THEIR little bubbles. I am better off taking care of myself than trying to stick around for those who only communicate out of convenience, who aren’t truly committed to being their best self. There’s a point in your life where you need to weigh your options. Is it worth staying in a relationship (romantic or otherwise...

Marching On To the Beat I Drum

When I started this blog up, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make of it, what topic I wanted to focus on, what audience I wanted to reach. And to be honest, I still don’t know. Yeah, it’s only been a few weeks. But a lot can happen in a few weeks – and I am still struggling to find what I want this blog to be. Lately I have had self love and accepting who you are weighing heavily on my heart - so we'll roll with it for now!  Something we have seen a LOT of lately in the news and across social media is the idea of loving yourself, flaws and all, and really believing in who you are. I have touched on this before in previous posts briefly, but I feel a deeper pull to discuss this now. Is it something I struggle with? DAILY. But if you aren’t going to love you for who YOU are, then how can you expect anyone else to? ...This Is Brave… For those who are not familiar with my taste in movies, I saw the Greatest Showman when it came out in December, and si...
